Nikkah Society (“we”, “us”) runs nikkahsociety.us, a private introduction service for marriage-minded Muslims. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
What we collect
Your email address; the details you give in your application and profile (name, date of birth, gender, location, profession, employer, education, LinkedIn link, relationship intentions, religious practice, and photos); messages you send to mutual matches; and basic technical data needed to keep you signed in.
Sensitive information
Your profile includes information about your religious beliefs, which is special category data under UK and EU data protection law. We only process it with your explicit consent, which you give when you submit your application, and only to provide introductions. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
How we use it
To review and verify applications, choose introductions, show your profile to the members you are introduced to, enable chat between mutual matches, keep the community safe, and contact you about your account.
Who can see your profile
Our team, and members you are introduced to. Your last name, employer and photos are only shown once you and your match have both said yes. We never sell your data or show your profile publicly.
Service providers
We use Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage) and Vercel (website hosting). They process data on our behalf under their own security and data protection terms.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, photos and messages within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing privacy@nikkahsociety.us. UK members can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Age
Nikkah Society is only for people aged 18 and over.
